April 22, 2008 The warm weather continues.. Yesterday I finally broke down and turned off the furnace in my house for the summer. I guess this means that winter is officially over with. Everyone here seems to have been hit by the spring cleaning bug, and I am no exception. I spent the weekend cleaning out the garage and the basement. Our school year is winding to a close and it will soon be time to start packing up my classroom for the summer. We have only 30 days of classroom instruction left!! And now, on to the IMPORTANT stuff. There are still MANY corps members who have not turned in all of their paperwork. I cannot stress enough the importance of getting this turned in. Please don’t “encourage” me to list names in the next issue of this newsletter. MAIL IN YOUR PAPER WORK TODAY. I am assuming that EVERYONE has MTX marching footweat that fits. Seeing as no one has contacted the office about white shoes that we already have, I figure that you have all contacted Mr. Holmes at Northeast Band Supply about ordering your shoes. Don’t wait too long on this.. if your size is NOT in stock, you may have to wait a week or so.. BAD THINGS HAPPEN TO THOSE WHO PROCRASTINATE!!! From the treasurer.. Many corps members are behind in the timely payment of dues and fees. If you have questions regarding your balance, please contact Randy Chaffee TODAY at chaf_7@hotmail.com. Fees must be paid in full prior to the start of the season unless other arrangements have been made with Randy. DON’T FORGET!! RACINE NORTH is having a can drive during the weekend of May 10 & 11. Yes, this is a camp weekend. Yes, you will get credit toward dues/fees for collecting recyclable cans and bringing them to camp. This is an easy way to earn some cash. Start collecting those cans today! IMPORTANT QUESTION!!! (Racine SOUTH.. aka TEXAS) Who is NOT available for a camp over Memorial Day Weekend? (This would be May 23, 24 & 25) If your only “hang up” is state solo and ensemble, let me know that as well. Please e-mail me asap and let me know what (if any) your conflicts are. I will be visiting the Great State of Texas, May 4-10 and am still looking for band classes to visit for recruiting. If you would like to have me visit YOUR band, please send me the name of your school, the name of your band director and a telephone number. That’s all for now..
